New update

Hello everyone,

Things are going good with me. I do have a bit of a sore throat that I hope that I can get rid of this week. Linda and I had a wonderful time at a family BBQ last weekend. It is so good to connect with family and friends that you know have been praying for you.

This is my off week from chemo so I expect to be feeling pretty good by the end of the week. Many of you have asked me just how long my chemo will go and at this point I can’t say. Dr. Fiorentino, my oncologist said we will go until I say, enough I can’t take anymore. I know we will be doing a MRI of my brain and a PET/CT scan of my body in August so we may be able to see where we are at. I know the tumor behind my left ear has gone down. It is less than a quarter the size it was when we started chemo. My hair has still not grown back, so I have to watch myself out in the sun.

God is so good! God is so gracious!

I thank Him for all your prayers.

Doug

latest blog update

Here is the latest blog update: I hope everyone is beating the hot weather we are having; looks like the heat is going to stay around for a while. Linda and I went to the Hawks game last night and it was quite warm but we really enjoyed it.

I went for a Vitamin C IV last week and will be going in tomorrow morning for my Chemo Treatment. If my blood counts look good then I will take the treatment; otherwise we will push the treatment out a week. All in all things are going pretty good. I still fight the nausea and the tiredness, but I guess that is part of the side effects of the Chemo. We will be doing a PET/CT Scan sometime in August to see if we have made any progress.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers. I know that they are being answered daily. Linda and I are very grateful for family and friends that continue to lift us up in prayer.

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me, For my soul takes refuge in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge Until destruction passes by. Psalms 57:1

Update July 8 2009

Our time at the cabin was wonderful last week. Except for the mosquitoes. The weather was perfect and those of the family that made it up made it an exceptional time of fun and fellowship.
I can't wait to go back.

I went for treatment yesterday and my blood counts were OK to receive the treatment. We did talk some about the future. I will have a PET Scan in August to see where we are at. Except for some Nausea and tiredness I seem to be doing OK.

I continue to ask for your prays during this time. I know that pray can move mountains because I've seen it happen time and time again in my life. I continue to ask for a complete healing from cancer.

Thank you all again for keeping Linda and I in your prayers.

I ran across this verse this morning. I would like to share it with you.

Rev. 19:1 After these things I heard, as it were a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God.

And to that I say AMEN

We Love You All

God Bless You

Vacation in Cascade

Hello Everyone,

This blog is coming to you from our cabin in Cascade. We drove up yesterday and will spend the rest of the week and the July 4th holiday here. Linda is taking some vacation time. The weather is beautiful not a cloud in the sky. We just love it up here. There is a little work to be done but we will try and squeeze in some rest and relaxation.

This is my week off from Chemo treatments so I hope to gain some energy back. My next treatment will be next week on Tuesday.
Once again I thank you all for your prayers during this time. Linda and I are so blessed to have so many people surrounding us in prayer. God is good and His will is our goal.

I hope each of you have a wonderful 4th of July holiday. We have a wonderful country and we need to thank God for it. Also remember those who are serveing our country and away from there families.

God Bless each and everyone of you.

Doug

PS Here are the verses from my devotions this morning.

"Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is Light."
Matthew 11:29-30 NLT
