Blog Update- May 29th:

Our stay in Cascade was wonderful. We had a great time with some work and rest. Family came and went throughout the long weekend and we really enjoyed our time with them. We are blessed with a great family.

I had a Vitamin C/B IV on Wednesday and it went really well.

My next Chemo will be on Tuesday, June 2nd. Please continue to pray that the side effects will be minimal and that the tumors will continue to shrink.

As I end I want to share these verses with you that mean a great deal to me.
Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. Romans 5:1-2 NLT

God Bless You,
Doug

Update - May 22nd

Blog Update:
I wasn’t able to take my Vitamin C/B treatment on Friday due to being sick. I have rescheduled the treatment for May 27th.

We have had a very busy week. I had my Chemo treatment on Monday instead of Tuesday because of scheduling issues. Our air conditioning was not working so we had to call someone out to look at it. The worst case scenario happened. We will need to replace the whole unit. It also was decided because of the furnace being 17 years old we would go ahead and replace that too. This was a sticker shock because of the total cost. We are also redoing our bathrooms, so I guess we will be spending a lot of money this month.

All in all I have been feeling pretty good lately. I have been taking something called “Carnivora”, which is made from the Venus Fly trap and is to protect the healthy cells from the damage caused by chemo. So maybe it’s helping some with side effects.

Linda and I have taken a few days off and are headed to our cabin in Cascade. We are looking forward to some R and R in the mountains. I am including pictures of our cabin from the winter and early fall, so you will see where we are at this long holiday weekend.

I want to share this scripture with you that was given to me by a dear family member. It so blessed me, I hope you will also be blessed. Thank you Toni!

“I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says the Lord.” Jeremiah 30:17a NLT

I really feel blessed with all the prayers that are going up for Linda and me. I just ask that you continue to pray for us because prayer is the one offensive weapon we have.

I love you all and pray for God’s blessing for you.

God Bless,
Doug

Update - May 13th

Well updating the blog is long over due I know and I am sorry that I haven’t put any news out on the blog.

I have now completed 3 rounds of chemo and things are going as good as could be expected. I am still experiencing lots of tiredness and nausea. I still don’t have any hair, so it’s time to declare that bald is beautiful.

I will be going in for another Vitamin C/B-6/12/Complex- IV on Friday morning. This will be my second round.

My next chemo will be on Monday, May 18th instead of Tuesday because of scheduling issues. We will be headed to our cabin next Thursday for a little vacation HORRAY!

A friend recently sent me this paraphrase of Psalm 91 and I would like to share it with you. (Thank you Wendy!)

God bless all of you who are praying for Linda, my family, and me. I know just how important prayer is.

I love you all and pray that God will bless you with His mercy and grace.

PSALM 91 (paraphrased)
Because I live within the shadow of the Almighty, I can rest sheltered by the God who is above all gods.

This I declare: "You alone are my refuge, my place of safety. You are my GOD and I trust You! You rescue me from every trap and protect me from the fatal plague! You shield me under Your wings! You shelter me with Your feathers! Your faithful promises are my armor and protection! Now I don't need to be afraid of the dark anymore, nor fear the dangers of the day, nor dread the plagues of darkness, nor disasters in the morning!

"Though a thousand fall at my side, though ten thousand are dying around me, these evils will not touch me. I will see it with my eyes. I will see how the wicked are punished but I will not share it. For Jehovah is my refuge!
I choose the God above all gods to shelter me. How then can evil overtake me or any plagues come near? For He orders His angels to protect me wherever I go.

They will steady me with their hands to keep me from stumbling against the rocks on the trail. I can safely meet my spiritual enemies, yes; even trample them beneath my feet!"

This the Lord declares: Because you love Me, I will rescue you. I will protect you because you trust in My name. When you call on Me I will answer. I will be with you in trouble and rescue you and honor you. I will satisfy you with a full life and give you My salvation."
